Surgical Services
Surgical services involves a large number of different procedures. Many surgical procedures require making one or more incisions in the skin to give surgeons access to your organs.
Surgery may be performed to relieve pain, to remove or replace a diseased or injured body part — such as replacing a hip joint or removing a gallbladder — or to repair internal damage to the body, like a hernia.
A smart choice for surgical care
Tanner's surgical care centers are independently inspected by state and national surveyors to ensure they meet the highest levels of safety.
Our surgeons routinely perform a host of common procedures, including:
- Gynecological procedures, including hysterectomy
- Gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy)
- Orthopedic and spine surgeries
- Ear, nose and throat (ENT) procedures, including tubes for children and tonsillectomy
- Ophthalmologic procedures for eye care, including trauma globe repair
- And others
Some screenings that require anesthesia also are done in the surgery center, including upper GI procedures, colonoscopies and others.
Advancing Your Recovery From Surgery
Surgery isn't the ordeal it used to be.
Minimally invasive procedures — made possible through advances in medicine and technology such as robotic surgery systems — allow physicians to work with more precise tools through smaller incisions, allowing for a faster and safer recovery with less discomfort for patients.
In fact, about 90% of all surgical cases performed at Tanner Health System are on a same-day basis, with the patient discharged from the hospital to recover at home within 24-hours of their procedure.

When to Worry After Surgery
Surgery is safer and less painful than ever, but it's still vital to know when a symptom after surgery is a sign of trouble.
